VirtualMDLab - Outreach

The VirtualMDLab supports different activities addressed to promote Industrial and Management Systems Engineering. Some of these activities are:

EngExpo2009

Engineering EXPO 2009

Engineering EXPO 2009 is the official USF event celebrating National Engineers' Week. This is the best and fastest way to get to know the College of Engineering and other professional engineers working in the Tampa Bay area.

VirtualMDLab participates in this activity showing projects and models (final parts) that IMSE students have worked on. The laboratory is visited by professors, students and their families, all of them interested in Manufacturing and Automation activities.

Stampede to Success

Stampede to Success is an event exclusively for high school juniors and sophomores, it is an exploration of engineering to help students decide if their interests include pursuing a career in engineering or computer science, and the reasons why USF College of Engineering is a great place to earn a bachelor's degree. The Stampede to Success offers a preview of possibilities, a glimpse into the world of engineering.

VirtualMDLab participates in this activity providing tours through the facilities, performing simple machining processes and presenting informative videos regarding Manufacturing and Automation issues.  The laboratory is visited by High School students in groups of 18 people top, who have the opportunity of observe the interaction between hardware and software in real time.
